A little something different!

OK I just couldn't resist sharing this one!!!

Toddlers can no longer get hitched in Arkansas
Law had mistakenly allowed anyone to marry with parental consent

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Arkansas' marriage-age crisis is over. A law that mistakenly allowed anyone — even toddlers — to marry with parental permission was repealed by a measure signed Wednesday by Gov. Mike Beebe, ending months of embarrassment for the state and confusion for county clerks.

Lawmakers didn't realize until after the end of last year's regular session that a law they approved, intended to establish 18 as the minimum age for marriage, instead removed the minimum age to marry entirely. An extraneous "not" in the bill allowed anyone who was not pregnant to marry at any age with permission.

The bill read: "In order for a person who is younger than eighteen (18) years of age and who is not pregnant to obtain a marriage license, the person must provide the county clerk with evidence of parental consent to the marriage."

Some lawmakers called for a special session last year, saying the error would make it easy for pedophiles to take advantage of the law. Beebe said he didn't see any imminent crisis and said the chances of children marrying under the law were slim.

Special sessionLegislators, however, had the chance for a do-over this week when Beebe convened a special session to consider a hike in the state's severance tax on natural gas. They repealed the botched law, and reinstated 17 as the minimum age to marry for boys and 16 for girls.

Rep. Will Bond, the sponsor of the botched 2007 law and its correction, apologized for the error and asked his colleagues to "throw me a rope and bail me out here."

"I always thought if you put your name on a bill, you should be ready to take the blame if you're willing to accept the credit," Bond said Wednesday.

Bond, a Democrat, said there hadn't been any reports of young children attempting to marry under the 2007 law.

I'm so terrible I know

Well here we are, and it's already the 2nd of April!! Where has time gone?? Can't say that I'm not happy it's going by quickly....446 days to go!!

We made it through Easter, another holiday down. We kind of go through the motions, but for the most part it's just another day.

It's finally spring time.....I feel like a bear coming out of hibernation in a way. The sun is shining more now, the temperature is a bit more bearable. I've starting going to the gym, finally feeling the energy from it. The first two weeks I was crazy tired, but much better now. It's still not my favorite thing but it needs to be done.

The kids are doing good as always. Spring break starts this Friday....

Cheyanne's still keeping busy with all her after school activities: Girl Scouts, Honor Choir, Keyboarding, and Bible Club. Thank goodness she's so organized, she reminds me everyday what time to pick up!

Dalton is still Dalton! Getting by as far as school goes...

It's so hard to believe he will be in high school next year, and Cheyanne will be in middle school....where have the years gone?

Brian is good...working hard as always.

And me.....I'm hanging in there. I'm missing family and friends something terrible. I found out that my brother is going to be a daddy..it kills me not to be there for that. I miss working something awful. I'm so NOT the stay at home type of person.

Well I think that just about catches us up. I promise promise promise to blog more often.

Oh Oh Oh !!!! I almost forgot! I have gotten tattoos #4 and #5!!! I'm loving them, they definately represent my time here.

#4 my Buddha sitting in a lotus flower on the outside of my left calf...isn't he cute!!

#5 I just got this one today...Cherry Blossoms on my left shoulder.

Ok so NOW that catches us up. Hope to hear from ya'll!

OK......OK

So it's not a matter of having the time to post, it's making the time.

Let's sum up the month of December for the Rimmer family.

Dalton turned 14 on the first.....still soooo hard to believe.

Cheyanne sang in the Christmas Concert, complete with Santa hat.

I turned ?? on the 19th......still soooo hard to believe!!!

Someone between New Orleans, Louisiana and our mail box here, opened the box of Christmas presents and STOLE them, then taped the box back up and let it be delivered!!! Merry Christmas to us!!

Christmas was good, still feels like just any other day but with presents. We can't wait to get back to the states for the holidays.....ONLY a year and a half left.

Brian and I were sick for New Years.....I stayed in bed for two days...always fun!!!

Well I think for the most part that has us caught up.

I promise to do better!!!

2 down.....1 more to go.....

Well we made it through another Thanksgiving.....much different than last year I must say. My friend Michelle and I, with the help of our three girls, cooked the whole thing for our families and a couple of her husband's soldiers. After eating we played board games, having a lot of fun. So now we have 2 down and 1 more to go!!!
Can you believe it's already been a little bit over a year since we moved here!?!?!? Some days (very few actually) it feels it can't possible be that long, but on others it seems like way longer than it has been! And to think only 572 days left! ( but who's counting!)
Every one is doing great.....Brian goes before the promotion board in either Jan. or Feb. for his promotion to Sergeant. Keep him in your thoughts....

The kids are doing well....getting ready for Christmas break of course. Dalton is Dalton what more is there to say! He's steady on the go, growing too much and still skinny as a pole. He will actually be turning 14 this coming Friday, sooo hard to believe!

Cheyanne is keeping busy herself. Last year I couldn't get her to join a club to save her life...this year is a different story. Monday is Digital Photography Club, Thursday brings Girl Shouts, and Friday is reserved for Bible Club. She's having a blast!

And me......I'm just trying to stay busy. Trying not to get home sick, this time of the year is really hard. I'm actually looking forward Christmas this year, instead of going through the motions! We put the tree up the Friday after Thanksgiving, and it already has a few presents under it!!!
Well I hope to hear from everybody....

Our cooking help....Addy, Cheyanne and Lexi! What a trio!

Dalton and Addy.....she's quick to tell you "Dalton's my besth friend!"

It's that damn simple!!!

Ok so Cheyanne found out that Brian can make homemade white gravy, not the instant like mom makes.....so they had to get up early Saturday morning and make some. She was a bit worried at first because he was not going to measure the ingredience, "just watch....." he told here. So here are pictures of Mr and Miss Bob and Betty Crocker making their gravy. When it as all said and done she says....."is that it?" and he replies "it's that damn simple!!!"
